Music & Style
The street style and the catwalk. How designers have borrowed from subcultures, and how musicians have carried garments into the mainstream — turning clothing into a look accompanying the sound.
A video interview series exploring the lives and origin stories of the people behind the work — those whose taste and craft quietly shape the culture of how we see, hear and dress.
Beyond the Call Sheet is a long-form video interview series exploring the creative industries through the people inside them. It began as a study of the journey — how working creatives become who they are — and has grown into something broader: an editorial platform examining the cultural forces that shape taste itself.
The series moves season by season. Season 01 traced the personal route — the unlikely beginnings, the formative years, the work that made a name. Season 02 turns outward, to the relationship between music and personal style, and how the two have shaped one another for half a century. A feature-length documentary will follow.
The first season followed the path itself — the unlikely opportunties, the first jobs, the mentors and the high lights — through long-form conversation with figures working across the creative industries.

Watch ↗Twenty conversations across the disciplines of image-making — direction, photography, hair, makeup and the agencies behind them.
The second season takes the conversation outward — into the long, restless dialogue between music and style. Where the image and the sound of a bassline answer one another. Hair, clothing, style, attitude — and the records that shaped them.
The street style and the catwalk. How designers have borrowed from subcultures, and how musicians have carried garments into the mainstream — turning clothing into a look accompanying the sound.
From the sharp lines of the soul boys to the cropped silhouettes of post-punk to the sculpted finishes of contemporary R&B — how the hair stylist and music culture have always been intertwined.
Album art, music video, the press photograph. The visual grammar that turns a song into an icon, and the photographers, stylists and art directors who built it.
The interviews recorded for Season 02 will form the foundation of a feature documentary on music and style — a longer, more cinematic study of the same territory. Once enough conversations are in the can, the project will move into the edit.
More on the film when it's ready to be discussed.
Director
Stephen Langmanis set up Beyond the Call Sheet as an editorial platform to showcase the origin stories of the talent and their journeys within the culture of image making.
His own career has been spent making work with some of the world's most recognisable brands across fashion, beauty and advertising. Beyond the Call Sheet turns that lens outward, exploring the greater world of style, image and music.
